When it comes to installing burglar alarm systems, a person wants to ensure a quick response to any adverse situation.

However as most telephone lines are exposed outside the home, often the first thing that a burglar will attempt to do in order to gain access to a property and ensure that the alarm does not send a message to the monitoring service, is to cut the telephone lines.

However if the line happens to run underground until it is actually within the confines of the person's home, then the burglar is unable to tamper with it. They can only actually gain access to the telephone lines once they have gained access to the property. By that time, a signal has already been sent to the monitoring station.
